Mint
- Mentha species There are three main mints,
Peppermint, Spearmint and Horsemint. 1. Relaxing They
have a mild soothing action on the nerves and digestion,
which helps relax the body and clear the mind and
senses, hence their widespread popularity and usage. 2.
Colds They are mild, cooling diaphoretics
for common colds and flu. 3. Gastrointestinal Peppermint
is the most stimulating and best one to improve
digestion. Spearmint is more relaxing and better
in diuretic action. Horsemint has stronger antispasmodic
properties, useful in difficult menstruation. Other
mints like catnip have similar properties. Mints
contain large amount of ether, with an action that
is soothing, cooling, clarifying and expanding.
